Senior Structures Design Engineer, Launch Vehicle Structures (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential aerospace organization seeking a Senior Structures Design Engineer to join their launch vehicle development team in Parsdorf, Bavaria. In this role, you will lead the design and development of critical primary and secondary structural systems, working with both composite and metallic materials.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing composite and metallic structures for launch vehicle applications, with responsibility for critical primary structures, interfaces, and adjacent secondary structures
• Creating CAD models, manufacturing drawings, integration documentation, and bills of materials
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across analysis, production, assembly, integration, testing, quality, and avionics to deliver optimized structural solutions that meet project requirements
• Establishing design standards, best practices, and documentation protocols for the structures team
• Reviewing designs and manufacturing drawings produced by the engineering team
• Preparing detailed development roadmaps and maintaining project timelines
• Hosting weekly stakeholder meetings to ensure efficient product development
• Conducting design reviews, risk assessments, and trade-off studies
• Responding to production and assembly non-conformities
• Defining requirements and engineering change requests
• Serving as the technical point of contact for external suppliers
• Mentoring team members and providing technical guidance on design challenges

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline
• 8+ years of professional experience in aerospace structures design
• Excellent knowledge of lightweight and composite structures design
• Strong understanding of carbon composite manufacturing processes
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• Fluent English language skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Practical experience with propellant tank and pressure vessel design
• Experience in launch vehicle development programs
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or similar CAD software
• Experience with material qualification and composite manufacturing techniques
• Knowledge of current industry trends, materials, and technologies
• German language skills
