(Senior) Legal Counsel (m/w/d) für den Bereich Commercial

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is transforming the collections industry across Europe through innovative technology and artificial intelligence. Our client operates in multiple European markets and is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Commercial legal team in Berlin on a hybrid basis.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex commercial contract negotiations, RFP processes, and international expansion projects across DACH, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Benelux, Poland, Romania, and the Nordics. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Development, IT Security, Data Protection, and Finance while helping optimize legal operations.

Responsibilities

• Support RFP and tender processes, independently conducting contract negotiations with prospective and existing clients in coordination with business development teams
• Conduct legal compliance reviews for international subsidiaries across European markets
• Review and negotiate data protection agreements (including DPAs), vendor contracts, and partnership agreements
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders across Legal & Compliance, Data Protection & AI Governance, IT Security, and Finance teams, as well as external partners
• Contribute to developing and implementing strategies for optimizing legal operations
• Provide support to the Lead Legal Counsel Commercial and General Counsel on additional legal matters

What We're Looking For

• Legal degree (minimum LL.M.) from an EU/EEA jurisdiction, ideally with or equivalent to a German second state examination
• Minimum 4 years of commercial law experience, preferably in an international European environment (bonus: France, Italy experience)
• At least 2 years of experience negotiating data protection contracts, ideally with partners from France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and Romania
• Practical experience supporting RFP and tender processes, contract negotiations, contract management, and legal reviews in an internationally operating company
• Business-fluent English is required; French and/or German are must-haves; additional languages (Italian, Dutch, Swedish) are a strong plus
• Proven stakeholder management experience
• Strong interest and ability to accurately document contracts and develop contract management systems and relevant documentation
• Proactive mindset with ownership mentality and ability to work with AI and smart tools

Our client offers a hybrid working model in Berlin (Charlottenburg), with 2-3 days per week in-office during the probation period, then a minimum of 1-2 days weekly thereafter.
