Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential client in the audio and brand technology sector, seeking a Data Engineer to join their established data engineering team in Manchester. Working in a hybrid environment, you will help design, build and maintain reliable, scalable data solutions as part of their ongoing platform modernisation efforts.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, building and maintaining scalable, reliable and maintainable data pipelines and datasets
  • Playing a key role in developing and improving the Microsoft Fabric data platform
  • Contributing to the design and development of data warehouse, lakehouse and data integration solutions
  • Applying strong engineering practices across source control, CI/CD, testing, documentation, monitoring and error handling
  • Developing and maintaining data models to support reporting, analytics and wider business use cases
  • Collaborating with other Data Engineers and technical teams to improve data architecture, platform performance and engineering processes
  • Working closely with Reporting, Insights and Data Science teams to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong technical skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. Essential qualifications include:

  • Strong SQL skills, including experience writing and optimising complex queries and data transformations
  • Strong Python skills, with practical experience using Python for data engineering, data processing or automation
  • Proven experience designing and building data pipelines, with a strong understanding of modern ETL/ELT practices
  • Experience working with modern cloud data platforms and orchestration technologies
  • Experience of data modelling for reporting and analytics, including dimensional modelling and designing datasets for downstream consumption
  • Experience with modern engineering practices including Git-based source control, CI/CD, testing, monitoring and error handling
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working effectively within agile, cross-functional teams

Nice-to-have experience:

  • Microsoft Fabric, including Warehouse, Lakehouse and Data Factory capabilities
  • Infrastructure as Code approaches and tools such as Terraform
  • API-based, event-driven or operational system integrations, such as Salesforce
  • Experience within the Microsoft data ecosystem

Pay
