Senior Group Marketing Controller (All Genders)

Responsibilities

Our talent team is representing a confidential e-commerce organization in their search for a Senior Group Marketing Controller. In this role, you will serve as the primary finance interface for the global marketing function, ensuring marketing spend is planned accurately, closed correctly, and reported transparently across multiple markets.

You will own the month-end close process for marketing cost lines across all markets, reviewing and validating marketing accruals submitted by local finance teams. This includes identifying and resolving booking errors, misclassifications, or missing accruals to maintain clean actuals in the income statement for all marketing line items.

Your responsibilities will include consolidating and challenging market-level marketing budgets during planning cycles, leading marketing guidance creation for business plan cycles, and maintaining the group marketing budget with actuals versus budget versus forecast analysis. You will flag material variances early and escalate to marketing stakeholders as needed.

On the reporting side, you will produce monthly marketing performance reports covering spend versus budget, phasing, and key variance drivers. You will support executive reporting with accurate marketing cost commentary and build and maintain performance reports for global marketing teams, leveraging AI and business intelligence dashboards.

As a business partner, you will act as the day-to-day finance contact for global marketing teams, managing both direct and indirect spend. You will also document and improve the end-to-end marketing close process, ensure consistent cost treatment across markets, and identify gaps in how marketing costs are captured.

What We're Looking For

• Several years of experience in financial controlling, FP&A, or a similar finance business-partnering role, ideally with exposure to marketing or performance-marketing cost structures
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills with comfort working with large datasets and business intelligence reporting tools
• Proven ability to explain financial variances clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Experience running or supporting a month-end close process
• Comfort operating across multiple markets and currencies in a fast-paced, matrixed organization
• Curiosity about how AI and automation can modernize financial reporting

Success in this role means delivering a clean marketing close every month with no material restatements or late accruals, building stakeholder trust in marketing numbers, explaining variances proactively, and standardizing marketing controller processes across markets.
