Senior Software Engineer – Backend

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential data infrastructure company that is building a founding engineering team at their Berlin location. This is a unique opportunity to join as a senior backend engineer on a multi-year journey to build next-generation data platform capabilities. You'll be part of a founding team working on challenging distributed systems problems that power massive-scale data workloads for enterprise customers globally.

Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed systems spanning product to infrastructure, including at-scale service architecture, monitoring, and workflow orchestration
• Develop reliable, secure, and high-performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing large volumes of data on cloud storage backends such as AWS S3, GCS, and Azure Blob Store
• Create product features that enable customers to efficiently store and access their data
• Participate in the entire development cycle from architecture to deployment
• Contribute to service-oriented architecture patterns and SaaS platform development

What We're Looking For

• BS or higher in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years of production-level experience in Java, Scala, C++, or similar languages
• Proven experience developing large-scale distributed systems
• Background working on SaaS platforms or with service-oriented architectures
• Strong knowledge of SQL
• Ability to work on-site in Berlin as part of a founding team
