Senior Staff Software Engineer – Delta

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential data infrastructure client seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join their backend team in Berlin. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems that power large-scale data platforms. Your work will focus on building next-generation serving infrastructure that handles high query volumes with low latency and exceptional reliability.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Solving real business challenges at massive scale through expert software engineering
• Conducting low-level systems debugging, performance measurement, and optimization on large production clusters
• Leading architecture design, influencing product roadmap, and taking ownership of new projects
• Introducing tools that enable greater automation and operability of services
• Leveraging your deep experience to prevent and investigate production issues
• Planning and leading complex technical projects that span multiple teams
• Serving as technical team lead by mentoring engineers, leading sprint planning, and delegating work assignments

What We're Looking For

Our client requires a seasoned engineer with:

• 15+ years of industry experience building and supporting large-scale distributed systems
• Comfort working toward multi-year technical visions with incremental deliverables
• Strong motivation to deliver customer value and measurable impact
• Solid foundation in algorithms and data structures with understanding of real-world applications
• Proven experience driving company-wide initiatives that improve customer satisfaction
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
