About This Position
As Senior Cost Manager – Data Centre, you'll take the lead on financial strategy and cost control for major data centre projects. Working within Turner & Townsend's established cost management practice, you'll combine deep sector knowledge with commercial acumen to deliver value for clients investing in critical digital infrastructure. This role combines strategic cost planning with day-to-day project delivery, requiring both analytical rigour and stakeholder leadership across multi-disciplinary teams.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive cost strategies and budgets for data centre developments, from feasibility through completion
- Manage cost control and financial reporting throughout project lifecycles, identifying risks and opportunities
- Lead cost estimating, value engineering, and commercial negotiations with suppliers and contractors
- Advise clients on cost implications of design changes, programme decisions, and market conditions
- Mentor junior team members and collaborate across architecture, engineering, and project management disciplines
- Champion best practice in cost management methodologies and digital tools
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a cost manager or quantity surveyor in data centre, infrastructure, or comparable sectors
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with ability to articulate cost drivers to senior stakeholders
- Excellent estimating, forecasting, and cost control capabilities
- Professional qualification (RICS, ICEC, or equivalent) or clear pathway to achievement
- Experience managing complex, capital-intensive projects
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency with cost management software and Microsoft Office applications
