Open Porter Position – 180 Pearl

Bushburg Properties Inc seeks a full-time Porter to maintain our 180 Pearl property in New York, New York. As part of our union workforce, you'll play a key role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, guests, and staff.

What This Role Involves

This union position centers on preserving the condition and safety of our entire property. You'll manage routine cleaning operations, handle basic facility maintenance, and respond quickly to any cleaning or safety issues that arise. Your work ensures that all common spaces, entryways, and facilities consistently meet our standards and support an excellent resident experience.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain floors, carpets, ventilation areas, and restrooms throughout the building
• Keep building entrances, lobbies, and outdoor areas spotless and free of obstructions
• Replenish restroom supplies and other consumable cleaning materials on schedule
• Perform light maintenance work, including tasks like replacing light bulbs and similar repairs
• Detect structural concerns, damage, or maintenance issues and report them to management; coordinate with repair specialists as required
• Track and organize the cleaning supply inventory, alerting supervisors to reorder items proactively
• Install warning signs and caution markers for hazards like wet floors, fresh paint, and other potential risks
• Address spills and cleaning emergencies with speed and efficiency
• Comply with all relevant health codes, safety standards, and building ordinances
• Execute emergency and evacuation protocols when directed

• Physical capability to lift, bend, and move throughout the day, using cleaning equipment and tools
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions carefully

• Familiarity with or willingness to learn building systems and emergency procedures
• Ability to work independently and take initiative on facility needs
