About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential augmented reality technology company seeking a Senior Computer Vision Engineer to own real-time 3D object tracking for their production system. This is a remote role based in Canada.
Our client builds AR-driven software deployed on tablets and headsets in industrial environments across North America. Their platform overlays digital guidance onto physical assemblies during manufacturing operations, and tracking accuracy is mission-critical to their product.
This role offers end-to-end ownership of a hard, central technical challenge: locking CAD models onto physical objects in real time and maintaining that lock as users move through complex workspaces. You'll build on existing groundwork, architect the path forward, and ship your work directly into production environments where real tradespeople depend on it daily.
Responsibilities
- Own the on-device object tracking system end-to-end, from architecture through production deployment
- Design and implement real-time, model-based 6DoF pose estimation and continuous tracking for textureless industrial structures, using CAD models as the tracking reference
- Fuse object tracking with platform world tracking (visual-inertial odometry), depth sensors, and IMU data; manage tracking-loss detection, drift mitigation, and recovery strategies
- Optimize native C++ vision pipelines for iOS and Apple silicon: manage rendering, CPU/GPU budgets, and sustain frame rates on iPad and headset hardware
- Extend tracking capabilities to large-scale structures: handle partial visibility, implement multi-region strategies, and preprocess CAD mesh data from IFC/STEP-type exports
- Integrate native modules with Unity via plugin bridges, collaborating with the Unity team from prototype through release
- Define tracking quality metrics and benchmark performance against real industrial conditions: occlusion, mixed lighting, and cluttered scenes with visually similar materials
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 5+ years of professional experience in computer vision or closely related field, with focus on real-time systems
- Shipped at least one real-time computer vision feature on a mobile platform (iOS or Android)
- Strong modern C++ skills; Python is an asset
- Solid foundation in 3D geometry: camera models, calibration, projective geometry, and linear algebra
- Working command of nonlinear least-squares optimization (Gauss-Newton / Levenberg-Marquardt) and pose parameterization on SE(3)
- Hands-on experience with pose estimation and object tracking algorithms
- Experience integrating native C++ libraries with Unity, or equivalent native-mobile plugin development
- Strong profiling and optimization skills on ARM architectures (frame budgets, Instruments or equivalent)
- Working proficiency with OpenCV
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
Preferred:
- Model-based 3D object tracking experience (region-based, edge-based, or hybrid approaches)
- Metal and GPU compute on Apple silicon
- Visual-inertial odometry or SLAM; ARKit (ARCore a plus)
- State estimation and multi-sensor fusion: Kalman filtering, factor graphs (Ceres, g2o, GTSAM), extrinsic calibration, time synchronization
- On-device ML deployment: Core ML, ONNX Runtime, or Unity Sentis; learning-based pose estimation or refinement shipped on-device
- CAD data handling: mesh processing and decimation, IFC/STEP-style exports
- Background in industrial vision, robotics, or augmented reality applications
How We Work With You
When you apply through Get A Job.ai, our recruiting team will review your profile and conduct an initial screening. We prioritize applications that demonstrate hands-on, real-time computer vision work. Please include a brief introduction, summary of relevant experience, and links to your GitHub profile, portfolio, or publications. One or two examples of real-time pose estimation, tracking, or 3D vision work you've built (with links or short write-ups) will strengthen your application.
After our screening, we will submit qualified candidates to our client for consideration. Please do not attempt to contact the client directly, as all communication will be coordinated through our talent team.

Working in Canada
Canada is a country in North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and northward into the Arctic Ocean, making it the second-largest country by total area, with the longest coastline of any country. Its border with the United States is the longest international land border. The country is characterized by a wide range of both meteorologic and geological regions. With a population of over 41 million, it has widely varying population densities, with the majority residing in its urban areas and large areas being sparsely populated. It
