Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential mission-critical infrastructure firm seeking a Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer for a long-term independent contractor engagement based remotely in Ukraine. This is an ongoing collaboration across multiple high-tech facility projects, not a single assignment.

You will provide services as an independent, self-employed professional under a formal independent contractor agreement with our client organization.

Responsibilities

• Model and coordinate fire sprinkler systems using BIM tools; hands-on Autodesk Revit experience is required
• Design fire sprinkler and suppression systems including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge configurations
• Develop sprinkler layouts and detailed fire protection designs for mission-critical facilities
• Prepare hydraulic calculations and engineering calculations required for system design
• Select and lay out sprinkler heads, piping, valves, and associated equipment
• Ensure compliance with fire protection codes and standards including NFPA, IBC, and IFC
• Prepare technical documentation including design criteria, calculations, specifications, and equipment data sheets
• Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design intent
• Produce coordinated models and drawings using BIM and CAD tools
• Coordinate sprinkler systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
• Develop and maintain project scope documentation throughout design evolution

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering (fire protection, mechanical, or related field)
• At least 4–5 years of experience in fire sprinkler or fire protection design
• Proven expertise in designing fire sprinkler and suppression systems
• Strong understanding of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems
• Experience performing and reviewing hydraulic calculations
• Knowledge of fire protection codes and standards including NFPA, IBC, and IFC; FM Global knowledge is a plus
• Hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit is essential
• Experience designing systems for industrial, commercial, or mission-critical projects
• Written and spoken English at B1 level or higher
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize while meeting project deadlines
• Self-starter with strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly
• Experience with U.S.-based projects and data centers is an advantage
