Principal / Distinguished Engineer – Mulit-Cloud Control Plane – Kubernetes

ServiceNow is seeking a Principal / Distinguished Engineer to design and architect our multi-cloud control plane infrastructure powered by Kubernetes. This is a full-time, remote position for candidates based in San Diego, California, ready to lead platform engineering at scale.

Role Overview

As a Principal / Distinguished Engineer focused on multi-cloud control plane and Kubernetes systems at ServiceNow, you will shape the strategic direction of our cloud orchestration platform. This senior leadership role influences architecture decisions across the organization, ensuring our infrastructure supports ServiceNow's growth and reliability at enterprise scale.

What You'll Do

• Design and evolve the multi-cloud control plane architecture, enabling seamless workload orchestration across multiple cloud providers
• Lead Kubernetes platform development and optimization, establishing best practices for containerization and deployment automation
• Architect solutions for high availability, resilience, and disaster recovery across distributed cloud environments
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to the technical vision and strategy of the infrastructure team
• Collaborate with product, security, and operations teams to translate business requirements into scalable platform capabilities
• Drive design reviews, RFC processes, and technical documentation for complex cloud infrastructure decisions

Skills & Qualifications

• Extensive experience architecting and operating Kubernetes clusters in production, multi-cloud environments
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or equivalent), including networking and infrastructure-as-code
• Proven track record designing control plane and orchestration systems at significant scale
• Strong systems programming background; proficiency with Go, Rust, or equivalent systems languages
• Experience with distributed systems, consensus algorithms, and fault tolerance
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to influence across organizational boundaries
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
