Role Overview

As a Medical Assistant in Piketon, you'll serve as a vital connection between residents, healthcare providers, facility nursing staff, and family members throughout their care journey. This temporary position places you in the center of clinical care delivery, ensuring coordinated, quality care in the skilled nursing facility environment. Your work coordinating provider encounters and educating patients will directly influence outcomes and satisfaction in the post-acute care setting.

What You'll Do

• Coordinate and prepare residents for telemedicine and in-person provider visits, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accessible
• Schedule appointments for acute, follow-up, and routine provider encounters while managing logistics within the skilled nursing facility
• Support care transitions and discharge planning by facilitating prior authorizations and assisting residents with program enrollment
• Educate residents on medication adherence, fall prevention, nutrition, and other wellness topics aligned with provider recommendations
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record to support care quality and regulatory compliance
• Develop working relationships across facility departments—including admissions, case management, and social work—to coordinate patient-centered care
• Facilitate family meetings, communicate discharge information, and coordinate follow-up to reinforce treatment plans

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
• Demonstrated experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical or care-coordination role
• Working proficiency with electronic medical record systems
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Attention to detail with capability to manage multiple priorities
• Working knowledge of geriatric medical terminology and practice
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including spreadsheet applications
• Willingness to travel locally, up to 30 miles one way as needed
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds independently and assist with resident transfers; capability to stand for extended periods
• Successful completion of background check and pre-employment drug screening
