Health Information Specialist I-Entry Level-7463

Datavant, the leading healthcare data collaboration platform, is hiring a Health Information Specialist I-Entry Level-7463 for our full-time team serving positions across Alabama, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. In this entry-level role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring patient health information is managed securely and in strict compliance with privacy regulations.

Position Summary

We're looking for someone to join our healthcare data operation and take ownership of processing patient information requests. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, paying $15 per hour. You'll work in a structured, metrics-focused environment where your accuracy and efficiency directly support healthcare organizations and their patients. What You'll Do

• Receive, log, and fulfill requests for patient medical records from both internal teams and external organizations
• Verify authorization documentation and ensure all releases comply with HIPAA regulations and company standards
• Assemble patient file contents in the correct sequence and flag any missing or incomplete documentation
• Scan and digitize paper records for storage in electronic health record systems
• Retrieve requested records and coordinate delivery via mail, fax, electronic transmission, or in-person pickup
• Handle incoming and outgoing phone communications related to record requests and inquiries
• Support administrative functions including mail sorting, document scanning, and database entry
• Monitor daily workflow against productivity benchmarks established for your specific work location
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying process optimization opportunities
• Maintain strict patient privacy and ensure only authorized personnel access sensitive health data

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Comfortable with computer systems, especially multi-monitor workstations and specialized software
• Skilled with office technology including phones, printers, scanners, and faxes
• Clear written and spoken English communication
• Precision-focused approach to handling confidential documentation
• Demonstrated data entry capability with strong accuracy standards
• Ability to prioritize competing tasks and self-manage without constant oversight
• Flexibility to commute between facility locations and work extended hours during peak demand periods
• Readiness to maintain consistent productivity in high-transaction-volume environments

Desirable experience includes:

• Previous work in healthcare, clinic, or hospital settings
• Roles emphasizing production targets or performance metrics
• Direct-to-customer service or front-facing healthcare roles
• Track record of suggesting workflow improvements and process enhancements
