Manager I, Engineering – Sensitive Data Scanner

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential observability platform client seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their sensitive data detection team in Paris. In this role, you will:

• Lead and develop a team of engineers building real-time sensitive data detection systems across multiple telemetry pipelines including logs, application performance monitoring, and user monitoring data
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and security groups to align on technical roadmap and integration priorities
• Drive product direction by partnering closely with Product Management, ensuring decisions are grounded in customer needs and measurable business outcomes
• Maintain technical involvement through design decisions and participation in the team's on-call rotation
• Recruit, mentor, and grow engineering talent as the team scales
• Contribute to building a strong engineering culture within the broader data security organization

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone who combines technical depth with people leadership:

• Proven experience building and shipping revenue-generating products with strong product instincts and customer focus
• Hands-on technical experience with Go and/or Java, including building distributed, streaming systems that operate at scale
• Engineering management experience, or readiness to step into a first formal management role, with demonstrated ability to set goals, provide constructive feedback, and develop team members
• Track record of measuring success through customer and business outcomes rather than output metrics alone
• Comfort making pragmatic tradeoffs between speed and correctness, ideally from experience in fast-paced environments
• Experience with security, data classification, or compliance systems is valuable but not required
