Legal Counsel, EU Employment Law (Platform Workers)

What This Role Involves

As Legal Counsel focused on EU Employment Law and Platform Workers at Delivery Hero, you will be responsible for navigating the complex legal landscape governing platform-based work across Europe. This role sits at the intersection of employment law, regulatory compliance, and business strategy, where your expertise will directly shape how Delivery Hero operates as a responsible platform employer.

What You'll Do

• Advise senior leadership on employment law compliance across EU jurisdictions, with particular focus on platform worker classification and rights
• Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements and independent contractor arrangements in compliance with evolving EU and Swedish employment law
• Monitor regulatory developments affecting platform workers and develop strategies to ensure ongoing compliance
• Support HR and operations teams in employment disputes, disciplinary matters, and worker-related grievances
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices in worker engagement and legal risk mitigation
• Provide guidance on data protection, working time regulations, and social security obligations for platform-based workers

Requirements

• Law degree with substantial experience in employment law or labour law
• Demonstrated expertise in EU employment law frameworks and Swedish labour law
• Knowledge of platform economy regulations and gig worker classification issues across European markets
• Fluent in English; Swedish language skills are valued
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
• Proven experience working collaboratively with HR, compliance, and operations teams in a fast-paced environment
