About This Position
As Legal Counsel for EU Employment Law (Platform Workers), you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on complex employment law issues specific to the gig and platform economy. Your expertise will shape compliance strategies, contractual frameworks, and risk mitigation efforts as regulatory requirements shift across Delivery Hero's operational jurisdictions. This is a hands-on position combining legal research, stakeholder consultation, and policy development in one of Europe's most dynamic and legally intricate sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on EU and member-state employment law implications for platform worker classifications, contractual arrangements, and worker protections
- Develop and maintain compliance frameworks addressing evolving regulatory requirements across multiple European jurisdictions
- Assess employment law risks arising from legislative changes, regulatory guidance, and judicial decisions affecting platform-based work
- Collaborate with operations, compliance, and people teams to integrate employment law requirements into platform policies and operational procedures
- Provide guidance on worker terms, conditions, benefits eligibility, and dispute resolution mechanisms to ensure legal alignment
- Monitor regulatory developments affecting platform work and advise on anticipated legal changes impacting the business
What We're Looking For
- Qualified lawyer with comprehensive knowledge of EU employment law and the regulatory framework governing platform workers and gig economy operators
- Demonstrated experience advising on platform worker classification, employment standards, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Understanding of employment law regimes across multiple European jurisdictions, particularly Austria and the broader EU
- Strong analytical and communication abilities, capable of translating complex legal concepts for business stakeholders
- Familiarity with the on-demand delivery or digital platform sector is highly valued
- Fluency in English and German; additional European languages advantageous
