Lead GP, Virtual Primary Care

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential digital health organization in their search for a Lead GP, Virtual Primary Care. This is a full-time, permanent senior leadership position based in the United Kingdom, offering the opportunity to shape and lead a regulated virtual primary care service at scale.

Our client delivers comprehensive telehealth solutions serving millions of users. As the Lead GP, you will hold executive responsibility for clinical leadership, operational management, governance, and regulatory compliance of their virtual primary care platform.

Responsibilities

You will provide overall accountability for the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of regulated virtual primary care services, including:

• 24/7 virtual primary care operations encompassing GP consultations, Advanced Nurse Practitioner consultations, clinical triage, and psychiatry services
• Clinical leadership: developing clinical strategy, ensuring evidence-based care delivery, creating new clinical pathways, and driving service innovation
• Operational leadership: day-to-day service delivery, workforce and capacity planning, clinical rotas, performance monitoring, KPI delivery, and mobilisation of new services
• Clinical governance: executive oversight of patient safety, clinical quality, audit programs, prescribing governance, incident management, safeguarding, complaints, and regulatory compliance
• Workforce leadership: professional leadership for GPs, ANPs, psychiatrists, and clinical leads, including recruitment, supervision, performance management, and professional development
• Client leadership: providing clinical assurance, governance meetings, escalation management, and supporting commercial growth
• Financial responsibility: efficient operational management including workforce utilisation, capacity management, and delivery of contractual obligations
• Senior leadership: contributing to organisational clinical strategy, operational planning, service development, and innovation initiatives as part of the Clinical Leadership Team

What We're Looking For

Essential requirements:

• Medical degree with full GMC registration and license to practice
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in primary care
• Proven leadership experience in healthcare settings, preferably within digital health or telemedicine
• Significant experience in digital primary care or remote healthcare environments
• Experience supervising and collaborating with GPs, allied health clinicians, and ANPs in both clinical and remote settings
• Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, clinical governance, and quality standards
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage clinical operations effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholder engagement ability
• Forward-thinking approach with passion for technology-enhanced patient care

Desirable qualifications:

• Experience with healthcare IT systems and digital health platforms
• Background in service transformation or organisational change management
• Knowledge of NICE guidelines and primary care best practices
