Interim Finance Director

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization in their search for an Interim Finance Director to lead financial planning and analysis through a critical 8-month period. This is a hands-on player-coach role where you'll own the complete FP&A cycle while partnering directly with executive leadership to shape strategic decisions.

This position requires someone who can hit the ground running from day one. You'll personally drive budget planning, monthly reforecasting, board reporting, and executive business reviews while coaching a small finance team through month-end processes.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute the full-year FP&A cycle end-to-end, including annual budget, monthly reforecasts, board packages, and executive business reviews
• Partner with the CEO and executive team as a peer, shaping board and investor reporting while influencing strategic finance decisions
• Lead and coach a Financial Controller and Finance Operations Associate, with active involvement in month-end processes
• Support and challenge accounting processes while maintaining financial rigor, even though you won't personally close the books
• Maintain investor and board relationships through clear, strategic financial communication
• Provide financial guidance during any diligence or high-stakes corporate processes that may arise

What We're Looking For

• Significant recent experience working in B2B SaaS environments (at least 2 years within the last few years)
• Demonstrated track record of personally owning a complete FP&A cycle from start to finish—not just supporting someone else's process
• Strong accounting literacy with ability to support and challenge a controller on technical matters
• Experience as the finance lead in diligence processes, including building data rooms and defending numbers under external scrutiny
• Proven ability to partner directly with executives and boards, shaping decisions rather than simply reporting numbers
• Experience leading small finance teams with a coaching mindset
• Hands-on approach with enthusiasm for rolling up your sleeves when needed
• Must be located in the UK with long-term working rights; fully remote working available

This role is not suitable for candidates who: need significant onboarding time or coaching to reach full productivity; prefer directing work rather than building personally; lack experience with high-stakes corporate moments like transactions or diligence; have only supported FP&A processes rather than owning them; or have not previously led teams or partnered with executive leadership.

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: £800-1,000 per day for an approximately 8-month contract duration (October 2026 through May 2027).
