Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential financial services organization in the Dominican Republic that is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy, capital management, and enterprise-wide financial performance. This is a senior executive role reporting to the CEO and Board, providing strategic leadership across a diversified portfolio that includes insurance operations and investment activities.

Our client operates in a highly regulated environment and requires a CFO who can balance growth objectives with capital discipline, regulatory compliance, and shareholder value creation. You will serve as a key strategic advisor and business partner to the executive leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the organization's financial strategy, advising the CEO and Board on financial performance, capital allocation, and enterprise value creation
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, long-term financial planning, and financial modeling to support strategic decisions
• Oversee financial management of insurance operations including premiums, claims, reserves, underwriting performance, loss ratios, and combined ratios
• Provide financial oversight of investment portfolio activities, partnering with investment leadership on portfolio strategy, asset allocation, and risk-adjusted returns
• Lead capital planning, balance-sheet optimization, solvency monitoring, and capital adequacy management
• Provide executive oversight of asset-liability management, ensuring investment portfolios align with insurance liabilities and liquidity requirements
• Oversee treasury, cash management, liquidity planning, and banking relationships
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the Board, shareholders, and regulators, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and insurance regulations
• Establish financial risk-management frameworks and monitor exposure to market, credit, liquidity, underwriting, and operational risks
• Provide financial oversight of reinsurance strategy, evaluating capital implications and optimizing risk transfer
• Lead financial evaluation of acquisitions, strategic investments, joint ventures, and expansion opportunities
• Develop relationships with shareholders, investors, banks, rating agencies, and regulators
• Modernize finance systems, reporting infrastructure, and financial analytics capabilities
• Lead and develop the finance organization, including FP&A, Treasury, Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Tax functions

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience:

• 15+ years of progressive finance experience with significant executive leadership responsibilities
• Previous experience as CFO, Group CFO, Finance Director, VP Finance, Deputy CFO, or equivalent senior finance role
• Significant experience within insurance, asset management, investment management, banking, pensions, or regulated financial institutions
• Strong understanding of insurance financial statements, investment portfolios, capital management, and regulatory requirements
• Proven experience managing complex balance sheets, liquidity, capital, and financial performance
• Demonstrated experience working with Boards, regulators, auditors, investors, and rating agencies
• Track record in financial strategy, investment analysis, and capital allocation

Preferred Experience:

• Experience as Group CFO within a diversified insurance or financial services group
• Experience across both insurance and investment/asset-management businesses
• Exposure to life insurance, general insurance, health insurance, pensions, or reinsurance
• Experience with institutional investment portfolios and alternative investments
• M&A, strategic investments, capital raising, or corporate transformation experience
• Multi-jurisdictional or multi-market regulatory experience

Education & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related discipline
• Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA, CFA, or equivalent strongly preferred
• MBA or Master's degree in Finance/Business is an advantage
• Insurance, actuarial, investment, or risk-management qualifications are beneficial
