BS/MD Physician Advisor

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential education organization seeking BS/MD Physician Advisors to mentor high school students through the competitive direct medical program admissions process. Our talent team is looking for physicians who successfully completed a U.S. BS/MD, BA/MD, BS/DO, or BA/DO program themselves and are passionate about guiding the next generation.

This is a remote, flexible position with peak activity from late August through mid-January, though year-round work is available. You'll work alongside college advisors to support students from application strategy through interview preparation.

Responsibilities

• Partner with college advisors to provide unified support throughout the application process
• Evaluate high school student candidacy including GPA, test scores, coursework, and extracurricular activities
• Edit and refine personal statements and supplemental essays specific to BS/MD programs
• Develop customized school lists aligned with each student's profile, goals, and preferences
• Conduct interview preparation sessions
• Maintain consistent communication through check-ins, deadline tracking, and proactive guidance
• Manage family expectations and facilitate productive collaboration
• Help students develop time management and personal responsibility skills
• Manage multiple clients simultaneously throughout application cycles that may extend up to a year

What We're Looking For

• Required: MD or DO physician (attending preferred; residents and fellows considered) who successfully graduated from a U.S. direct medical program (BS/MD, BA/MD, BS/DO, or BA/DO)
• Firsthand knowledge of the BS/MD or BS/DO admissions process
• Experience mentoring or advising students applying to medical school or direct medical programs
• Admissions committee experience strongly preferred
• Strong editing and writing skills, particularly with application materials
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with high school students and their families
• High emotional intelligence and professionalism
• Ability to manage multiple students throughout application cycles
• Proficiency with Zoom, Google Meet, and online collaboration tools
• Reliable internet connection and access to Microsoft Word

This role requires sensitivity to the emotional needs of students and families during a stressful process. You must deliver constructive feedback in an age-appropriate manner while maintaining a positive, trusting relationship. Flexibility and responsiveness to reasonable requests are essential.
