Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential sports retail client seeking a General Retail Manager to lead their flagship store on Oxford Street in London. In this role, you will take full ownership of store operations, driving sales performance and maintaining premium commercial and visual standards befitting a high-profile West End location.
You will partner closely with retail operations, merchandising, stock, and visual merchandising teams to ensure seamless product launches and peak trading preparation. Your leadership will be critical during major sporting calendar moments, ensuring the store is always ready to deliver exceptional fan experiences.
- Lead, motivate, and develop the complete store team including permanent, core, and casual staff
- Set clear performance standards and accountability measures while managing conduct, attendance, and succession planning
- Build effective rotas and deploy resources strategically to maximize sales potential
- Drive key performance indicators including footfall, conversion, average order value, and units per transaction
- Own end-to-end daily operations including opening and closing routines, transactions, till management, security, and replenishment
- Maintain first-class visual merchandising and presentation standards, raising the bar during launches and campaigns
- Ensure all promotional activity and event activations are executed to premium standards
- Manage budgets, forecasting, and controllable costs including payroll within agreed parameters
- Minimize stock and financial loss through strong controls and full compliance with company policies
- Use floor space and product placement creatively to maximize sales across trading floors
What We're Looking For
Our client needs a proven retail leader with a strong track record of achieving sales targets and driving commercial growth in high-footfall environments.
- Proven retail management experience in a high-traffic flagship or premium retail environment
- Strong people management, coaching, and development skills with experience leading large or multi-tier store teams
- Demonstrated ability to drive conversion, average order value, and units per transaction through effective leadership and floor management
- Strong visual merchandising and commercial awareness with ability to use space strategically
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and payroll within agreed parameters
- Ability to operate with autonomy and manage competing priorities effectively
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders
- Comfort using data and digital tools to inform decisions and enhance performance
- Adaptability in adopting new technologies and ways of working
- Experience in sports retail, licensed apparel, or flagship retail is highly desirable
