The Opportunity
You'll report to the Senior Backend Engineering Manager, taking ownership of platform reliability and modernization. This role is central to our strategic shift toward open-source solutions and independence from proprietary platforms. Working hybrid (1–2 days on-site weekly in Etobicoke), you'll drive infrastructure decisions that serve millions of customers worldwide, while collaborating with developers to accelerate deployment velocity and strengthen our technology foundation.
Your Responsibilities
- Design and maintain highly available global infrastructure across production environments.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code with Terraform to automate cloud provisioning and configuration.
- Manage containerized applications using Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and Podman.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, and custom tooling.
- Deploy and maintain observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki) for deep platform insights.
- Configure and operate Cloudflare services including load balancing and edge proxying.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on deployment workflows, branching patterns, and development lifecycle support.
- Enforce security best practices across infrastructure and deployments.
- Provide on-call support for global 24/7 production environments during critical incidents.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering roles.
- Strong programming and scripting skills in Golang with object-oriented programming knowledge; Python or TypeScript familiarity is a plus.
- Proven experience architecting distributed systems at scale.
- Solid expertise with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm).
- Deep knowledge of CI/CD platforms and observability tools (Loki, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or other major cloud providers.
- Working knowledge of networking, web protocols, and Bash scripting.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Ability to support mission-critical production systems with focus on reliability and security.
