Senior DevOps Engineer

Join Lush Handmade Cosmetics as a Senior DevOps Engineer in this full-time role, where you'll architect and manage the cloud infrastructure powering our global digital transformation from our Toronto, Ontario headquarters.

The Opportunity

Lush is moving toward greater technological independence, and we need a forward-thinking platform engineer to lead this shift. As Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll own the infrastructure strategy, automation, and operational excellence that enable our teams to deploy with confidence and scale reliably worldwide. You'll champion cloud-native practices and open-source solutions as structural cornerstones, partnering with backend leaders and developers to ensure every release lands smoothly and production systems run at peak performance.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, build, and sustain highly available infrastructure for our global customer base with minimal downtime.
• Write and refine Infrastructure as Code with Terraform to automate provisioning and ensure consistent environments.
• Manage containerised workloads using Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and Helm, optimising orchestration for reliability and efficiency.
• Engineer end-to-end CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI/CD and ArgoCD, including custom tools built for our teams.
• Establish and maintain observability platforms—Loki, Prometheus, Grafana—enabling clear visibility into application health and performance.
• Administer Cloudflare infrastructure including proxying, geographic load balancing, edge workers, and security policies.
• Work closely with development teams to strengthen deployment practices, enforce effective branching strategies, and accelerate time-to-market.
• Embed security controls throughout infrastructure design and CI/CD workflows.
• Provide on-call incident support for production systems operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or platform engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in Golang; solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Working knowledge of Python and TypeScript.
• Proven track record designing architectures for distributed, high-throughput systems.
• Deep experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm).
• Hands-on expertise with CI/CD systems and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki or similar).
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or other major cloud providers.
• Strong command of networking, web protocols, and Bash shell scripting.
• Production experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Ability to support critical 24/7 infrastructure with security and reliability as paramount concerns.
