Engineering Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential blockchain infrastructure organization in their search for an Engineering Manager. This is a remote leadership role focused on people management, delivery coordination, and technical project execution within a distributed engineering function.

Our client is building core open-source infrastructure that powers decentralized systems. You'll lead a team of approximately 9 engineers, balancing technical complexity with team health and stakeholder expectations. This is not a hands-on coding position, but requires sufficient technical depth to engage credibly with senior engineers and support architectural decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support an engineering team of around 9 contributors within a technical function
• Create a high-trust team environment with strong emphasis on people management and individual development
• Drive planning, prioritization, and execution across complex technical workstreams
• Negotiate timelines and delivery trade-offs with stakeholders in a clear, pragmatic manner
• Build technical context to understand architecture discussions and translate them into executable plans
• Partner with technical leaders to maintain project momentum and remove delivery blockers
• Improve team processes, communication patterns, and delivery predictability in a distributed setting
• Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members as the organization scales

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience leading engineering or highly technical teams as an Engineering Manager or Technical Project Manager
• Strong people management skills with a track record of building healthy teams and supporting individual growth
• Excellent project and delivery management capabilities, including planning, dependency management, and stakeholder communication
• Sufficient technical depth to understand complex system architecture and work effectively with senior engineers
• Comfort operating in a leadership and delivery-focused role rather than hands-on coding
• Strong judgment when balancing technical complexity, team wellbeing, and delivery outcomes
• Experience working with distributed teams, ideally across European time zones or closely aligned regions
• Preferred: background in technical infrastructure, systems engineering, or similarly complex environments
