DevOps Engineer – Release & Deployment (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential software organization in Frankfurt am Main that develops cloud-agnostic solutions for critical infrastructure and highly sensitive operating environments. Our talent team is seeking a DevOps Engineer focused on Release & Deployment to join their interdisciplinary AppFactory team.

This role centers on building reliable CI/CD pipelines, automating deployment processes, and designing release architectures that adapt flexibly to diverse client environments. You'll serve as a technical point of contact for development and product teams while working on solutions deployed across cloud, on-premise, and air-gapped environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions for fast, stable, and repeatable production releases
• Automate build, test, and deployment processes while continuously improving release quality and velocity
• Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Bicep for Azure environments
• Collaborate closely with development, testing, and operations teams to establish DevOps best practices
• Implement modern deployment strategies including Blue/Green, Canary, and Rolling deployments
• Analyze incidents in the release process, identify vulnerabilities, and develop sustainable solutions
• Advise clients on release and deployment architecture design, matching requirements to available solutions
• Take an active architecture role in client projects from requirements analysis through technical implementation
• Serve as technical contact for release and deployment questions both internally and externally

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or comparable qualification with equivalent practical experience
• Several years of professional experience in Release Engineering, DevOps, or CI/CD Engineering, ideally in consulting or product environments
• Strong understanding of Git, branching strategies, and tagging strategies
• Experience in direct client contact or consulting functions such as Solution Engineer or Technical Consultant
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, with ability to explain complex architectures clearly
• Solid knowledge of CI/CD tooling: Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable platforms
• Understanding of release promotion processes (Development → Test → Pre-Production → Production) and hotfix strategies
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep/ARM
• Experience with Kubernetes deployment and rollback processes, artifact management, and container image versioning (Docker, AKS)
• Familiarity with different system architectures: monolith, monorepo structures, multi-tier, and microservices
• Knowledge of cloud architectures, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Independent, solution-oriented working style with high quality standards and hands-on mentality
• Fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken

Bonus qualifications:

• Helm Charts versioning and GitOps workflows (e.g., Argo CD, Flux)
• Experience in agile development environments (Scrum, SAFe)
• Monitoring & Observability tools: Azure Monitor, Grafana, or Prometheus
• Azure or DevOps certifications (e.g., AZ-400, AZ-104)
