About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking a Patient Relations Specialist to join their revenue cycle team. This remote position focuses on patient collections, financial counseling, and helping patients navigate their healthcare coverage options. Our talent team is conducting a targeted search for professionals with healthcare billing experience who excel at balancing compassionate service with effective account resolution.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming and outgoing calls with patients, guarantors, insurance companies, and legal representatives to resolve account questions and facilitate payment arrangements
• Review and resolve accounts for uninsured patients, residual patient balances after insurance processing, and accounts requiring special handling or investigation
• Educate patients and responsible parties about their insurance coverage details, payment options, and available financial assistance programs
• Process payments and establish payment plans that work within patients' financial circumstances
• Thoroughly document all patient communications and account activities in billing systems
• Perform skip tracing to locate patients and ensure accurate contact information
• Make final determinations on account collectability and outstanding balances
• Complete conference calls and transfer matters to appropriate departments when needed

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required
• 2-3 years of related experience in healthcare billing and collections
• Strong knowledge of government, commercial, and private insurance payers preferred
• Experience with high-dollar collection and financial debt counseling preferred
• Previous experience working with automated dialer systems preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong phone presence
• Outstanding customer service abilities with the capacity to balance empathy and compassion with collection goals
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities and ability to handle complex billing scenarios
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred
• Willingness to obtain AAHAM (American Association of Healthcare Administration Management) certification within 6 months of hire
