Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential professional services organization seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist to join their growing compliance team. In this role, you will:
- Prepare Tax ID applications for federal, state, and local tax agencies
- Create and review Power of Attorney (POA) documents
- Contact clients to assist with agency access and approvals
- Communicate with federal, state, and local agencies to obtain guidance and resolve account-related issues
- Research and respond to client payroll tax questions
- Maintain accurate customer files, communication logs, and supporting documentation
- Partner with team members to support payroll tax compliance and processing activities
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic knowledge of payroll, accounting, tax, or compliance principles
- General understanding of business entity structures and tax classifications, including corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and sole proprietorships
- Ability to understand how business structure impacts payroll tax registration and compliance requirements
- Experience in a customer service, client support, administrative, payroll, accounting, or related role
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service orientation and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business technology tools
Preferred:
- Experience supporting payroll operations or payroll tax administration
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements
- Experience with payroll, HCM, or accounting software solutions
- Experience working with tax registrations, agency correspondence, or account maintenance
- Call center or client service experience
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
