Role Overview

Environmental Services professionals are the backbone of hospital operations, and in an Emergency Department setting, your work directly impacts patient safety and staff efficiency. As an Emergency Department EVS Worker, you'll maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout our ED, ensuring that our clinical teams can focus on providing exceptional patient care. Your attention to detail and dedication to infection control help create the foundation for quality healthcare delivery at Virtua.

Core Duties

• Clean, disinfect, and sanitize patient rooms, treatment areas, waiting rooms, and common spaces throughout the Emergency Department
• Manage biohazard and medical waste disposal according to regulatory standards and hospital protocols
• Respond promptly to urgent cleaning requests, including spill management and terminal room cleaning
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, ensuring supplies are stocked and equipment is in working order
• Follow all infection control and safety procedures to protect patients, staff, and yourself
• Support the healthcare team by maintaining a clean, organized environment that supports patient flow and clinical operations

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume medical environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness standards
• Understanding of or willingness to learn infection control and safety protocols
• Physical stamina to perform standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions throughout your shift
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented work ethic
• Any experience in healthcare, hospital housekeeping, or environmental services is a plus
