Hardware Engineer

Viavisolutions is hiring a Hardware Engineer to join our St. Etienne team. This full-time role offers the opportunity to design, develop, and optimise hardware solutions that drive performance and innovation.

Position Summary

As a Hardware Engineer with Viavisolutions in St. Etienne, you will design, prototype, and test hardware systems and components. Working with cross-functional teams, you will shepherd products from concept through to production, ensuring they meet rigorous performance and reliability standards whilst adhering to project timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop hardware schematics, circuit diagrams, and component specifications
• Select, evaluate, and qualify electronic components and materials for hardware applications
• Conduct hardware testing, validation, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve design issues
• Collaborate with firmware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to integrate hardware solutions
• Document design decisions, test results, and technical specifications for project archival
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to improve hardware performance and manufacturability
• Support the transition of designs from development to production, including supplier and manufacturing partner coordination

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing hardware systems or electronic circuits
• Proficiency with hardware design tools, CAD software, and simulation platforms
• Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB design, and circuit fundamentals
• Experience with hardware testing equipment and diagnostic tools
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
