Sr. Data Engineer – Analytical Development

About This Position

As Senior Data Engineer for Analytical Development at Takeda's Boston location, you'll own the architecture and implementation of data pipelines, warehouses, and analytical data models that serve the entire analytics function. This full-time position requires someone with deep technical expertise in data engineering, proven ability to lead projects end-to-end, and passion for building systems that are both powerful and maintainable. You'll work at the intersection of engineering rigor and analytical innovation, collaborating closely with data scientists, business analysts, and stakeholders across functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build robust, scalable data pipelines and ETL processes that support analytical workloads
• Develop and maintain data warehouse architecture, data models, and transformations that enable self-service analytics
• Optimize query performance, data freshness, and system reliability across production analytical systems
• Lead technical design decisions and code reviews, establishing best practices for data engineering
• Mentor junior engineers and support the broader analytics engineering team
• Collaborate with analytics and data science teams to understand requirements and translate them into platform capabilities

What You Bring

• 5+ years of data engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in SQL, Python, or Scala
• Strong background building and maintaining data pipelines, data warehouses, or analytical databases at scale
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Spark or cloud data platforms like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
• Track record of optimizing complex queries and improving data system performance
• Leadership experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
