Director Account Management / Client Service

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential digital agency client seeking a Director of Account Management to lead client relationships and drive strategic growth in Berlin or Düsseldorf. In this senior leadership role, you will:

• Lead and develop an account management team, including Senior Account Managers and Account Managers
• Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to clients at executive and management levels
• Shape long-term vision and direction for key client partnerships across retail and consumer brands
• Identify opportunities to create maximum value by connecting client needs with comprehensive service offerings including strategy, creative, media, data, and technology
• Challenge existing approaches and co-develop innovative solutions with a MarTech mindset
• Own annual planning including budget, revenue, and margin responsibility for client accounts
• Ensure delivery excellence and client satisfaction across all engagements
• Participate in contract negotiations, rate setting, framework agreements, and support new business development
• Drive continuous process improvement and implement best-in-class account management practices
• Collaborate closely with internal disciplines including strategy, creative, media, and data teams

What We're Looking For

• Multiple years of leadership experience in account management or client service within an agency or digital services environment (digital, media, e-commerce)
• Strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation skills and P&L accountability
• Deep understanding of digital business models, campaigns, social media, e-commerce, CRM, websites, and media
• High affinity for trends, AI, and marketing automation
• Ability to think and act strategically with a holistic perspective
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, confident in client-facing situations
• Leadership competencies as mentor, coach, and decision-maker with a hands-on mentality
• Strong decision-making ability, assertiveness, receptiveness to feedback, and structured working style
• Fluent German and English, both written and spoken
