Data Engineer (Marketing Systems)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client in Europe seeking an experienced Data Engineer specializing in marketing systems and data infrastructure. This is a fully remote position for candidates located within approximately ± 4 hours of Central European Time.

Our client operates innovative consumer products and requires a hands-on engineer who can independently own data engineering tasks, marketing integrations, and production system maintenance. This is a delivery-focused role for someone ready to ship reliable work from day one.

Responsibilities

• Support and optimize data integrations using ingestion and orchestration tools
• Implement and maintain Google Tag Manager configurations, marketing pixels, and conversion tracking workflows
• Move and transform data across cloud data warehouse environments, storage systems, and external platforms
• Troubleshoot pipeline issues, tracking problems, payment data flows, and data quality concerns
• Support payment orchestration data flows including subscription and payment processing systems
• Document data flows and system integrations across multiple platforms
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Data, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Billing teams
• Provide support during release cycles and urgent tracking or payment setup needs, including occasional evening availability

What We're Looking For

• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and Bash
• Hands-on experience with Google Tag Manager, pixel implementation, conversion setup, and JavaScript
• Practical experience with Google Ads, Meta Ads, and Bing Ads platforms
• Engineering mindset with proven ability to work with production data systems
• Working knowledge of cloud data warehouses, columnar databases, and data transformation frameworks
• Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Proactive approach: able to identify issues early, ask clarifying questions, and take ownership without detailed instructions
• Delivery-focused mindset with ability to ship reliable work independently
• Located within approximately ± 4 hours of Central European Time
• Experience with data ingestion tools (nice to have)
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration platforms (nice to have)

Growth Opportunities: You will develop expertise across cloud infrastructure, DataOps practices, data transformation tools, version control, CI/CD pipelines, and software engineering best practices. The role includes exposure to internal monitoring platforms with microservices architecture, alerting systems, and observability tools.
