Data & Analytics Engineer (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential data analytics organization with operations across major global markets. Our client is seeking a Data & Analytics Engineer to join their technical team in Hamburg or Berlin. This role sits at the critical intersection of data engineering and analytics, building the infrastructure that connects operational data systems with analytical consumption layers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services in Python that power data access and distribution systems
• Build and operate automated CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows running on AWS and Kubernetes
• Design and maintain data models and schemas (Avro, SQL) for pipelines and services
• Publish schemas to downstream consumers via Kafka-based distribution platforms and schema registries
• Build access-layer data models in cloud analytics environments (e.g., Snowflake) enabling direct application consumption including API access
• Act as coordination interface between data and technology divisions, aligning priorities, schemas, and delivery timelines across teams

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or related technical roles
• Strong SQL skills and solid data modeling experience (dimensional modeling, star schemas)
• Hands-on experience with event streaming and message distribution, ideally Kafka, including schema management with Kafka schema registry (Avro, Protobuf, or JSON Schema)
• Proven experience designing data contracts and schemas between upstream producers and downstream consumers
• Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and modern data stack tools (dbt, CI/CD frameworks)
• Openness to AI-assisted development workflows (Claude Code or similar tools)
• Comfort working at the boundary of streaming/operational data and analytical data models
• Strong attention to detail with quality-focused and structured working approach
• Interest in data governance, standards, and scalable data architecture
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent communication skills in English with both technical and business stakeholders; German is a plus

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are competitive with the German market for this experience level and technical skill set.
