Chief of Staff for Engineering

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential blockchain infrastructure organization in their search for a Chief of Staff for Engineering. This is a rare opportunity to work at the executive level of a globally recognized technology company, partnering directly with the founding team to drive organizational alignment and long-term strategic execution.

This is a fully remote position requiring exceptional operational sophistication, technical credibility, and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-conviction environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical right hand to the founder, managing context, priorities, and follow-through on strategic initiatives
• Transform ambiguous mandates and competing priorities into clear decisions and structured execution plans
• Think 12 to 24 months ahead, mapping second- and third-order consequences of current decisions
• Lead cross-functional problem solving when issues fall between departments or require executive-level coordination
• Design and run the operating system for leadership, including OKRs, technical reviews, and decision-making cadences
• Bridge between founder priorities and the acceleration team's execution
• Partner with C-level executives and directors across all business functions
• Impose structure on fast-moving initiatives without killing momentum
• Anticipate leadership needs and provide proactive solutions before being asked

What We're Looking For

• Background in engineering or engineering management with the technical credibility to engage with CTOs and challenge timelines
• Experience running complex, cross-functional programs at a senior level, ideally having led a team or founded a company
• Track record managing leaders, including more junior managers
• Understanding of the blockchain ecosystem sufficient to distinguish substance from hype
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to adapt style and register for different stakeholders
• Proven ability to create clarity from ambiguity and manage without formal authority
• Long-term strategic thinking focused on 12-24 month horizons rather than immediate firefighting
• Genuine curiosity about Web3 technology and its potential impact
• High-calibre academic credentials or exceptional track record
• Comfort thriving in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with demanding leadership
• Experience in organizations that do not move in straight lines
