Assistant Controller

JobGet is hiring an Assistant Controller for our Finance team in Canada on a full-time basis. You'll be the hands-on accounting owner responsible for our monthly and annual close process, managing financial accuracy and controls across our expanding, multi-entity organization.

What This Role Involves

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you'll prepare and oversee consolidated financial statements, conduct reconciliations, and maintain the internal controls that keep our books audit-ready. As we integrate recent acquisitions, you'll align acquired entities into our accounting systems and processes. You'll also work with our Finance team to adopt AI-powered tools that streamline reconciliations and accelerate the close cycle.

Core Duties

• Prepare and deliver accurate monthly and annual consolidated financial statements on schedule
• Execute journal entries, account analysis, and variance investigations
• Perform full reconciliations of general ledger, bank, and intercompany accounts
• Review financial results with Finance partners and investigate discrepancies
• Maintain and strengthen internal accounting policies and controls
• Manage year-end audit coordination with external auditors
• Support acquisition integration by adapting systems and controls for newly acquired entities
• Contribute to the annual budget cycle and departmental validation
• Identify and drive process improvements that enhance close speed and accuracy
• Ensure compliance with US and Canadian statutory and tax requirements

What You Bring

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting or finance experience with direct ownership of closing processes
• Strong foundation in US GAAP; knowledge of Canadian ASPE/IFRS reporting
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent
• Proficiency with accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite
• Advanced Excel and analytical problem-solving abilities
• Hands-on experience reconciling general ledger, bank, and intercompany accounts at scale
• Background supporting year-end financial statement audits with external firms
• Knowledge of Canadian tax and statutory compliance requirements
• Familiarity with acquisition, integration, or major business transformation initiatives
• Curiosity and initiative in adopting AI and automation tools
• Clear communication skills for explaining accounting concepts to non-financial stakeholders
• Self-directed work style with ability to manage competing priorities and operate with urgency
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to audit-ready deliverables
