Founding CTO / Chief Risk Officer ( Co-Founder Level )

About This Opportunity

We are representing an early-stage fintech organization building institutional-grade foreign exchange hedging infrastructure. They are seeking a Founding CTO / Chief Risk Officer to join at co-founder level and own the technical vision from day one.

This is a rare opportunity to architect critical financial systems from the ground up, with meaningful equity ownership and direct influence on product and protocol strategy. The role is remote-friendly with a preference for candidates based in or near New York City.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the complete technical vision and architecture for the platform
• Design and build core trading, risk, and settlement infrastructure from scratch
• Architect robust risk and margin systems to support institutional clients
• Lead engineering strategy, infrastructure decisions, and technology direction
• Establish security standards and reliability protocols for production systems
• Collaborate directly with founders on product roadmap and protocol design
• Build and scale the engineering organization as the company grows

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• Former Founder, CTO, or Founding Engineer with proven track record
• Expert-level Rust proficiency — this is strictly required
• Strong background in financial or trading infrastructure systems
• Demonstrated experience building systems from zero to production scale
• Deep technical understanding of risk, margin, trading, or financial systems
• Strong DevOps and infrastructure expertise
• Experience with protocol security, security auditing, or blockchain infrastructure
• Comfortable taking full technical ownership at the co-founder level

• Trading engines or financial infrastructure development
• Risk and margin system design
• Market infrastructure or derivatives platforms
• Blockchain or smart contract infrastructure
• High-performance Rust systems in production
• Security-critical financial protocols

Pay

This role offers a salary range of $200,000–$300,000 USD plus up to 5% equity at the co-founder level.
