Accounting Manager (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a growing ambulatory healthcare organization in Hamburg that needs an experienced Accounting Manager to lead their finance operations across multiple entities.

In this role, you will:

• Oversee accounting operations for multiple legal entities, ensuring accurate and timely day-to-day bookkeeping
• Prepare monthly closings and VAT returns (UStVA), and collaborate with external tax advisors on annual financial statements
• Manage accounts receivable and collections processes
• Lead a two-person accounting team, developing team structure and task allocation
• Continuously improve accounting processes through digitization and automation initiatives
• Enhance finance tools, digital workflows, and system interfaces to support scalable growth
• Serve as the primary liaison with executive leadership, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Several years of professional accounting experience with deep technical expertise
• Strong knowledge of monthly closings, account reconciliations, VAT, and year-end preparation
• Certified accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter/in), tax specialist (Steuerfachwirt/in), or equivalent qualification preferred
• Proficiency with DATEV; experience with DATEV Unternehmen online is advantageous
• Fluency in German, both written and spoken
• Interest in digitization and process automation with a continuous improvement mindset
• Ability to question repetitive manual processes and identify optimization opportunities

Nice to have:

• Previous leadership experience (though willingness to take team responsibility is most important)
• Experience scaling accounting operations in growing organizations

This position is based in Hamburg, though regular in-person collaboration with the team in Duisburg will be expected. The role offers flexibility with hybrid remote work arrangements.
