Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential streaming media technology organization in Cambridge, and our talent team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their UI Players group. In this role, you will:
- Develop core UI features for an embedded consumer electronics platform used by millions globally
- Collaborate closely with product development, platform services, and release management teams to contribute extensively to embedded UI development and underlying architecture
- Integrate third-party C++ libraries into the platform
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues within the embedded system
- Work on customer-focused features including cross-platform device experiences, TV and player-centric UI, and IoT integration
- Partner with engineering teams, UI design, product teams, QA, and business leadership to deliver solutions
What We're Looking For
Our client seeks a senior professional with proven expertise in embedded software development:
- Relevant software development experience with a demonstrated track record of designing and shipping high-quality software on embedded platforms
- Extensive programming experience with C++ and Embedded Linux or Native Application Development
- In-depth understanding of Linux, tools, libraries, and open source development
- Proficiency in AI-assisted programming and modern development toolchains
- Strong understanding of API design considerations and tradeoffs
- Experience with memory management and multi-threaded development
- Experience with OpenGL and DirectFB
- Familiarity with tools and libraries such as Boost, PlayReady, ALSA, and DIAL is a plus
- Media/video knowledge (codecs, media streaming) is advantageous
- Embedded and consumer electronics experience preferred
- Ability to accurately estimate software tasks and work to schedule
- Strong communication skills to describe technical issues and solutions to various audiences
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
