About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential streaming technology client in their search for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Ad Serving team in Manchester. Our client is a leader in the TV streaming space, and this role offers the opportunity to work on a highly scalable, real-time advertising platform that serves millions of users.
This is a hybrid position requiring office attendance Monday through Thursday, with flexible remote work on Fridays.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain large-scale, high-performance real-time applications alongside a skilled engineering team
- Own feature development end-to-end, collaborating directly with product and engineering teams
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Champion best practices across development, QA, and infrastructure/operations functions
- Advocate for platform innovation and code reuse
- Deliver high-quality software on schedule
- Leverage AI tools and agentic workflows to accelerate development and scale impact
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of experience building large-scale, low-latency distributed systems
- Strong command of Java or C++
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization, object-oriented programming, multi-threading, and real-time programming
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with distributed caching, SQL/NoSQL databases (preferred)
- Experience with Big Data and cloud services such as AWS/GCP (preferred)
- Background in the advertising domain (strong plus)
- AI literacy: experience or curiosity with generative AI tools; familiarity with agentic engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, MCP servers, or agent frameworks is valued
- Self-motivated with high accountability and ownership
- Critical thinker with practical decision-making skills
- Results-oriented, collaborative, and team-focused approach
