Backend Engineer III

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Backend Engineer III to join their engineering team in Cardiff. In this role, you will design and build core banking platform services that customers interact with daily. You'll work across disciplines to solve interesting technical challenges spanning products, infrastructure, security, payments, and data systems.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Building backend services using strongly-typed languages in a distributed systems environment
• Writing resilient, scalable software that handles real-world financial transactions
• Collaborating with product teams to make data-informed decisions that drive customer outcomes
• Working with modern technologies including Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure
• Participating in technical design discussions and contributing to architectural decisions
• Supporting the full software development lifecycle from conception to production

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking engineers at the mid-to-senior level who bring:

• Strong experience working on backend systems for technology products
• Proficiency with strongly-typed languages such as Go, Java, C, or Scala
• Interest in distributed systems and building resilient software
• A product mindset with focus on customer outcomes and data-driven decisions
• Comfort working in environments with ambiguity and evolving requirements
• Passion for solving complex technical problems in the financial services space

The tech stack includes Go for application code, Cassandra for data storage, Kafka for messaging, Kubernetes and Docker for orchestration, Envoy Proxy for RPC, and AWS/GCP for infrastructure. Prior experience with these specific technologies is not required—comprehensive onboarding and learning support will be provided.

Pay
