Accounting Manager (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a growing organization in the ambulatory healthcare sector that is seeking an Accounting Manager to take ownership of financial operations across multiple entities. In this role, you will:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations for several legal entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Prepare monthly closings and VAT returns (UStVA), and collaborate with external tax advisors on annual financial statements
• Manage accounts receivable and collections processes
• Lead and develop a two-person accounting team, optimizing task allocation and collaboration
• Continuously improve accounting processes through digitalization and automation initiatives
• Advance finance tools, digital workflows, and system integrations to support organizational growth
• Serve as the primary liaison with executive leadership, tax advisors, and internal stakeholders

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone who combines strong technical accounting expertise with a forward-thinking mindset. The ideal candidate will have:

• Several years of relevant accounting experience with demonstrated expertise
• Deep familiarity with monthly closings, account reconciliations, VAT, and annual financial statement preparation
• Certification as Bilanzbuchhalter/in, Steuerfachwirt/in, or equivalent qualification (preferred)
• Proficiency with DATEV; experience with DATEV Unternehmen online is advantageous
• Leadership experience beneficial but not required—eagerness to take responsibility for a team is essential
• Genuine interest in digitalization and automation, with curiosity about process improvement
• A questioning mindset: when you see repetitive manual processes, you instinctively ask "why can't this be automated?"
• Excellent German language skills, written and spoken

The position is based in Duisburg, with flexibility for candidates in Berlin or Hamburg who can travel regularly to Duisburg for in-person collaboration with the accounting team.
