About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential privacy-focused technology company in their search for a VP, Legal. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to serve as senior legal leader and strategic advisor to an executive team at a profitable, fast-growing organization with millions of users across multiple product lines.

This position combines executive legal leadership with hands-on contribution. You'll manage and develop a legal team while personally owning the organization's most significant legal matters, including high-stakes regulatory proceedings, complex commercial agreements, and competition matters. You'll work closely with policy teams, providing legal counsel on regulatory and legislative strategy in the US and EU.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary legal advisor to the CEO, executive team, and board on strategy, risk, regulatory developments, and sensitive legal matters
• Direct global privacy compliance, ensuring products and practices stay ahead of GDPR, US state privacy laws, and emerging data protection requirements
• Direct company legal strategy and outside counsel in complex regulatory and competition proceedings
• Manage and develop the legal team, set priorities, build the legal operating model, and develop team members
• Partner with policy teams as a key stakeholder, providing legal counsel on highest priority US and EU policy matters
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Security on legal implications of AI features, new product launches, and data practices
• Evolve legal operations infrastructure including intake workflows, outside counsel management, budget ownership, and playbooks across key practice areas
• Advise on employment matters, IP strategy, and corporate transactions
• Own corporate governance and support strategic transactions, including M&A and financing rounds

What We're Looking For

• JD and active bar membership in at least one US jurisdiction
• 15+ years of legal experience, including 10+ years in-house at a consumer-facing technology company
• 7+ years of progressive experience in legal leadership roles, including 2+ years in positions of comparable seniority (VP, Deputy General Counsel, or similar)
• Deep expertise in at least two of these domains: privacy/data protection, technology platform regulation, or antitrust/competition law
• Familiarity with corporate governance and strategic transactions, including M&A, financing rounds, or board advisory work
• Demonstrated ability to advise executives on complex legal risk and manage significant litigation and regulatory proceedings
• Track record managing legal teams and outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions
• Strong commercial instincts and business enablement approach, known for sound judgment rather than reflexive caution
• Located in the United States
• Willing to attend video meetings on camera and travel at least twice annually for company gatherings (4-5 days each)

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $320,000 USD annually, plus stock options. Our client offers transparent compensation across the organization, with all team members at the same professional level and region receiving the same pay. Company-sponsored health benefits are available to US-based team members.
