Group Design Platform Software & AI Architect (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential engineering organization in the energy sector, seeking a Group Design Platform Software & AI Architect for their Regensburg, Bayern location. This is a leadership role defining the technical vision for enterprise design platforms used across international operations.

Our client operates globally with advanced manufacturing and engineering capabilities. This position offers the opportunity to shape software architecture at scale while integrating AI capabilities into mission-critical design systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and continuously develop the software and implementation architecture for the Group Design Platform, including modules, interfaces, data ownership, and technical roadmaps
• Provide technical leadership for the existing C#/.NET environment and guide its development toward scalable, maintainable, and testable solutions
• Evaluate technical alternatives, dependencies, and risks; document architecture decisions and recommendations transparently
• Establish software development standards for coding, APIs, data models, automated testing, versioning, documentation, and code reviews
• Identify and assess AI use cases, technologies, and models; guide the implementation of selected AI-enabled platform capabilities
• Collaborate with Product Owners, project managers, engineering experts, users, and development teams to deliver appropriate technical solutions
• Review software designs, critical code, integration concepts, and supplier proposals to ensure compliance with platform architecture
• Drive modernization, refactoring, performance improvement, cybersecurity, and technical-debt reduction while supporting Agile/Scrum and stage-gate processes

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline
• At least eight years of professional software development experience, including several years in software architecture or technical leadership
• Strong hands-on expertise in C# and the.NET ecosystem, ideally gained in complex engineering, desktop, web, or service applications
• In-depth knowledge of software architecture, domain-driven design, modular architectures, design patterns, APIs, data architecture, and system integration
• Practical experience with AI-enabled software, model integration, data pipelines, workflow orchestration, evaluation, monitoring, and governance
• Good knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, source control, automated testing, release pipelines, and secure software development
• Strong analytical, communication, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills, with ability to guide distributed and external development teams
• English skills at C1 level or equivalent
• Additional advantages: German language skills, experience with industrial engineering software, PLM, CAD, SAP, databases, or cloud architectures
