Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Linux System Administrator to join their IT team. In this role, you will manage and evolve the Linux infrastructure while actively shaping the future technical direction of the organization.

• Linux & Infrastructure: Administer and optimize the Linux system landscape, network infrastructure, and IT environment.
• Open Source Development: Drive migration initiatives from proprietary software to suitable open source alternatives.
• Virtualization & Automation: Work with technologies such as Proxmox, Docker, and vSphere; automate processes using Python and Ansible.
• Cyber Security: Advance security and resilience measures, addressing requirements around NIS 2, GDPR, CRA, and TISAX.
• AI Infrastructure: Maintain and expand an internal Linux-based AI server, creating secure infrastructure for internal artificial intelligence use.
• Technical Support: Resolve complex internal IT issues, primarily for technically skilled users, focusing on second and third-level support.

What We're Looking For

• Completed vocational training as IT Specialist, IT System Administrator, completed Computer Science degree, or comparable qualification.
• Minimum two years of professional experience with a clear focus on Linux administration following completion of your training or studies.
• Strong Linux expertise: You already work confidently with Linux and do not need to learn the operating system from scratch.
• Solid understanding of network technology, network protocols, and IT infrastructure.
• Experience with virtualization or container technologies such as Proxmox, Docker, or vSphere.
• Skills in automation, for example with Python, Ansible, or comparable technologies.
• Enthusiasm for open source and interest in building an IT landscape on open and secure solutions.
• Fluent German at C1 level minimum and fluent English skills.
• Independent, pragmatic working style with desire to actively shape technical decisions and try new solutions together with the team.
• Knowledge of Nextcloud, Open Xchange, Nginx, pfSense, OpenVPN, Git, or Ceph as well as IT Security experience are advantageous.

Location: Hybrid work arrangement in Freiburg region with remote flexibility (typically one day per week home office, more possible by arrangement).
