About This Opportunity

We are representing a growing technology organization in the industrial automation sector that is building a modern, open-source IT infrastructure from the ground up. Our client seeks a Linux System Administrator who wants to shape technical decisions rather than simply maintain existing systems.

This is a remote-friendly role based in Germany, offering the opportunity to work within a deliberately small IT team where your voice carries weight. You'll collaborate directly with leadership and drive strategic initiatives around Linux infrastructure, open-source migration, cybersecurity, and AI server development.

Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize the Linux system landscape and supporting network infrastructure
• Lead migration initiatives from proprietary software to suitable open-source alternatives
• Work with virtualization and containerization technologies including Proxmox, Docker, and vSphere
• Automate processes using Python, Ansible, or comparable tools
• Advance cybersecurity and resilience measures, addressing technical requirements around NIS 2, GDPR, CRA, and TISAX
• Maintain and expand an internal Linux-based AI server infrastructure for secure internal use
• Provide second and third-level technical support for predominantly tech-savvy internal users

What We're Looking For

• Completed training as IT specialist, system administrator, informatics degree, or comparable qualification
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience with clear focus on Linux administration after completing your education
• Strong Linux expertise - you already work routinely with Linux and don't need introductory training
• Solid understanding of network technology, network protocols, and IT infrastructure
• Experience with virtualization or container technologies such as Proxmox, Docker, or vSphere
• Knowledge of automation tools like Python, Ansible, or comparable technologies
• Enthusiasm for open-source solutions and interest in building a long-term IT landscape on open, secure platforms
• Fluent German (minimum C1 level) and English language skills required
• Independent, pragmatic working style with desire to actively shape technical decisions and collaborate on new solutions
• Bonus: Experience with Nextcloud, Open Xchange, Nginx, pfSense, OpenVPN, Git, Ceph, or IT security

Pay

Our client offers a base annual salary starting at €60,000 gross, with willingness to significantly exceed this figure based on qualifications and experience, plus performance bonus.
