VP People (f/m/x)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization in Germany that is entering its next stage of growth. Our client needs an experienced VP People to help strengthen the company from the inside out—moving from a functioning setup into a more mature, scalable, and consistent organization.

This is a hybrid role based in Germany, reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the extended executive board. You will own the People & Talent function end-to-end while helping to build the leadership structures, principles, and rhythms that enable sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

• Own the People & Talent function end-to-end, leading the team across talent acquisition, compensation, performance management, feedback systems, career development, and people policies
• Embed and scale existing processes and standards, ensuring they are consistently implemented in day-to-day operations
• Build and evolve the leadership setup, including Leadership Principles, Leadership Development frameworks, and related processes
• Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team on people, leadership, and organizational effectiveness topics
• Moderate key leadership forums, especially Executive Board and Senior Leadership Board meetings, driving strong preparation, focus, and follow-through
• Own important company-wide rituals and cadences such as All Hands meetings, planning cycles, offsites, and other leadership ceremonies
• Strengthen collaboration and culture alignment across organizational units, improving how teams work together in practice

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience as a senior People leader in a regulated environment, ideally fintech, with the maturity and judgment to shape how a growing organization leads and collaborates
• Broad People generalist background with core expertise in HR Business Partnering and/or People Development, plus credible exposure across Talent Acquisition, People Operations, leadership support, and culture topics
• Hands-on experience with compensation models, performance frameworks, hiring processes, capacity planning, and budget planning
• Proven experience leading organizations through cultural transformation and change management, ideally including mergers, acquisitions, or other high-change environments
• Servant leadership approach with a track record of developing people and leaders through feedback, mentoring, and active development
• Highly structured and organized, able to manage agendas, timing, preparation, and follow-through effectively
• Strong executive presence, comfortable facilitating focused discussions, holding senior stakeholders accountable, and providing constructive pushback when needed
• Entrepreneurial mindset focused on execution and results
• Exceptional communication skills in German and English (C1+ level)
• Willingness to spend significant time on-site in Berlin (7+ days per month for leadership roles)
