Fusion Island Power Cycle Lead (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential fusion energy organization in their search for a Fusion Island Power Cycle Lead. This is a critical technical leadership position where you will own the design and development of the fusion island power cycle, including cooling systems, thermodynamic cycles, and primary heat exchangers. You'll guide these systems from initial concept through detailed design, licensing, construction, and commissioning while ensuring safety and efficiency across the reactor plant.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end accountability for the fuel cycle power cycle design from concept to commissioning
• Define and govern the overall power cycle design architecture, including configuration, major design parameters, and fundamental safety approach
• Resolve complex, cross-cutting technical issues that span multiple engineering disciplines
• Author key engineering deliverables including system design descriptions, design basis documents, interface control documents, and safety analysis inputs
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across thermal-hydraulics, mechanical, and instrumentation disciplines
• Report design status, technical risks, and critical issues to senior leadership on a regular cadence
• Manage design change control processes to maintain schedule and cost discipline while preserving design integrity
• Ensure integration of RAMI principles, licensing requirements, and comprehensive documentation control

What We're Looking For

• M.Sc. in Nuclear Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in thermal-hydraulics and fluid dynamics
• At least 2 years leading multidisciplinary technical teams through complex engineering challenges
• Advanced expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with demonstrated mastery of CFD tools and methodologies
• Deep knowledge of fluid dynamics, safety analyses principles, and design basis development
• Strong foundation in nuclear reactor physics
• Understanding of thermodynamic cycles, thermal-hydraulics, mechanical analyses, and instrumentation and control systems
• Experience managing requirements, RAMI processes, licensing documentation, and project scheduling
• Advanced fusion reactor knowledge is a strong advantage
• Location: Darmstadt, Germany
