Director of Operational Finance (d/f/m)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Director of Operational Finance to join their Berlin office. This is a strategic leadership role where you'll oversee end-to-end financial operations, drive AI adoption and automation initiatives, and lead a team of 10+ finance professionals supporting multi-country operations.

Responsibilities

• Strategically oversee the complete operational finance function, ensuring excellence in delivery and alignment with strategic objectives
• Lead and manage high-impact finance projects across multiple countries, ensuring timely execution and strategic alignment
• Build and lead a high-performing finance team of 10+ experts, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability
• Champion cross-functional initiatives and collaboration across the organization, particularly regarding new product launches
• Serve as key advisor to senior management and external partners on advanced financial and administrative matters
• Ensure preparation of comprehensive monthly and audited annual financial statements with rigorous compliance to legal and regulatory requirements
• Drive AI adoption and automation in Finance through agent/AI-based workflows and tooling-led productivity improvements
• Strategically manage financial risks, including FX and interest cost exposures
• Oversee implementation of IFRS reporting standards, ensuring transparency and reliability in financial reporting

What We're Looking For

• Ideally 10 years of leadership experience in finance and strategic project management
• Demonstrated success managing large-scale, multinational finance teams and projects with strategic impact
• Deep knowledge of HGB and ideally IFRS, combined with experience in internal control systems and global financial regulations
• Exceptional leadership capabilities with proven track record of managing and inspiring geographically dispersed teams
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with ability to navigate complex financial environments
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, consultants, and senior leadership
• Exceptional project management skills with history of delivering complex projects within scope, time, and budget constraints
• Expertise in negotiating and managing vendor and service provider relationships
• Agility to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments with understanding of business drivers and industry trends
• Fluency in both German and English required
