(Senior) Software Engineer – Developer Enablement (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a rapidly scaling technology organization in the Munich area that has grown from 300 to over 1,700 team members. They need an experienced engineer to transform their developer enablement practices and accelerate velocity across their entire engineering organization.

As part of the Software Factory team, you'll design and champion state-of-the-art development tooling and CI infrastructure for a large, polyglot environment. This isn't just infrastructure maintenance—you'll actively shape engineering culture by defining pragmatic processes and tracking success through metrics like DORA.

Responsibilities

• Drive technical and process evolution by mentoring software teams toward modern engineering practices including modern monorepos, automated testing, and trunk-based development
• Bridge gaps between teams by understanding their current pain points and building roadmaps that guide them toward efficiency
• Eliminate friction by identifying opportunities to simplify processes and streamline workflows, creating a faster Developer Experience
• Cultivate a growth mindset and champion continuous improvement, psychological safety, and iterative learning across the organization
• Evolve the build and CI ecosystem by continuously optimizing large-scale build and CI/CD environments for fast, reliable feedback loops
• Collaborate with embedded and infrastructure teams on transitions toward managed, image-based Base OS for high-performance compute targets

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills:

• Strong experience managing, scaling, or architecting build systems for large, polyglot codebases with advanced build orchestration capabilities
• Deep practical knowledge of building and operating robust CI/CD pipelines and developer enablement tools at scale
• Experience defining and rolling out clean engineering standards (Definition of Done, linting) with a passion for measuring developer experience using data
• Solid grasp of Linux-based systems, networking, and deployment automation
• High emotional intelligence with exceptional communication skills to address fears of change and motivate teams through inspiration
• Patience and pragmatism to understand that cultural shifts require celebrating small wins and building momentum
• Strong software engineering background that allows you to speak technical language and earn team respect

Preferred Skills:

• Deep experience with Bazel (this is a significant advantage)
• Experience with modern OS compilation, immutable infrastructure, or image-based provisioning for high-performance compute/embedded targets (Yocto, Nix/NixOS, systemd-mkosi, or Nvidia Jetpack)
• Familiarity with cloud-native systems and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
