Senior Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential hospitality technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Payments team. This is a remote position open to candidates in LATAM, Europe, and the USA.

Our client operates at significant scale, serving thousands of properties globally and processing billions in transactions annually. As part of their Payments engineering team, you'll build and maintain the financial systems that power secure, compliant, and efficient payment processing across international markets.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain payment systems that process high-volume transactions securely and efficiently
• Integrate with complex global payment partner APIs while ensuring reliability and resilience
• Develop event-driven microservices that support the platform's payment infrastructure
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features that support critical business operations
• Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code with strong attention to system quality and performance
• Contribute to architectural decisions that impact scalability, security, and long-term system flexibility
• Participate in on-call rotations and rapid problem-solving when issues arise
• Champion security-first design principles, ensuring compliance with payment industry standards
• Leverage observability tools and data-driven approaches to inform technical decisions

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with PHP web applications
• 2+ years working with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including query optimization and performance tuning
• 1+ years designing and developing event-driven microservices in PHP or Java
• Hands-on experience with modern infrastructure tools (DataDog, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Terraform, ArgoCD)
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, design patterns, and automated testing
• Proven ability to collaborate with leadership and non-technical stakeholders on high-visibility projects
• Ownership mindset with accountability for code quality, reliability, and system operations
• Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure

Preferred experience:

• Secure software engineering in regulated environments; familiarity with PCI-DSS or similar compliance frameworks
• Large-scale system design utilizing Domain Driven Design principles
• Background in payments domain or travel/hospitality industry

Work authorization: Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the location where they will be employed. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai for US-based candidates: $130,000 - $160,000 USD annually, depending on skills and experience. Compensation for candidates in other regions will be discussed during the screening process.
